Chase Velarde was born in Forest Grove, Oregon in the spring of 1988. He started drawing at the age of three, and won his first award in kindergarten. At the tender age of six, he shrewdly turned a homemade lemonade-stand into an art-stand which showcased his first gallery. The art stand was wildly popular with his parents, and he sensed a future in the field, so, intrepidly, he pushed on.
Being homeschooled in the tiny town of Yamhill, Oregon, Chase found drawing to be essential to maintaining his sanity, and was influenced early on by multiple comic strips. In his teenage years, he designed custom graphics and logos for various organizations and worked for a short time as a conceptual artist for a screen-printing company before becoming a caricature artist. His area of expertise is character design.
He is currently living in beautiful Portland, Oregon where he attends the Pacific Northwest College of Art and is on his way to acquiring a degree in Illustration.
